Jackson Hollow is a four-piece bluegrass band from Vancouver, BC, made up of Tianna Lefebvre, Mike Sanyshyn, Eric Reed & Charlie Frie. At first listen, one is immediately aware of how easy it is to fall in love with bluegrass music; or perhaps of how they fell in love with it in the first place. Perfectly placed harmonies are intertwined with warm acoustics and melodic mandolin & fiddle sections which exude inspired, memorable hooks, all backed by a traditional rhythmic bass line. The group effortlessly creates a nostalgic, yet modern sound that strikes a chord with people of all ages, backgrounds and musical tastes. “Simple, powerful and instantly magnetic”, the inimitable sound of Jackson Hollow has to be experienced to be described, but even then, words fall short.
Although the group itself is rather newly formed, each member has already carved out their own significance and permanence in the country music landscape. Lead singer Tianna Lefebvre is a 4-time BCCMA Award winner, including Female Vocalist of the Year and the Horizon Award. She has performed with the likes of Shania Twain, Michelle Wright and Charlie Major, as well as at numerous BCCMA & CCMA events. Mike Sanyshyn (fiddle & mandolin) is a CCMA and BCCMA Fiddle Player of the Year, a 4-Time BC Fiddle Champion and has placed in the top 3 at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championships. Mike has toured with Grammy-nominated songwriter Deric Ruttan, Dan Davidson, and Aaron Pritchett. Charlie Frie is a Juno nominated bassist, while Eric Reed is a Juno nominated multi-instrumentalist and studio engineer/producer who is known for working with Barney Bentall, Jim Byrnes, and John Mann.
Tying these experiences and sincere talents together under the moniker of Jackson Hollow, these artists are truly a powerhouse band of four of the industry’s finest.
Already to date, Jackson Hollow has performed at the BCCMA Hall Of Fame show, The BC Country Music Awards Show, Rockin’ River Music Festival, Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame "Then and Now" Concert Series, Kootenay Country Music Festival, Butchart Gardens, and Harmony Arts Festival. Currently however, you will find the group recording their debut album with funding from Creative BC, set to release in late 2020.
Whether they are recording in the studio or captivating audiences on stage, the undeniable finesse, talent, professionalism and charm of Jackson Hollow solidifies them as the embodiment of modern bluegrass and where its future is headed.
2018 Performance On The
BC Country Music Awards Show
"Jackson Hollow continues to impress my ears. This band is exemplary in every category. Vocals, musicianship, arrangements, material and performance. The sound is pure bluegrass but with a freshness and vibrancy that seems to be missing in today’s more traditional groups. The vocal blend is as perfect as I have heard. Led by a dynamic female singer, this band is on their own unique trajectory, and that trajectory is simply ‘out of this world!"
